Abstract

|
Meiotic chromosomes analysis and histolagical observation of the sterile male ICR mouse were investigated by the air-drying method and the hematoxylin-eosin stain in order to compare with normal.
The frequencies of X and Y chromosome dissociation in the primary spermatocytes of normal ICR and BALE/c mice were about 7.45% and 7.33%, respectively. In the sterile ICR mouse, 24.11% of spermatocytes had unpaired X and Y chromosomes at diakinesis/metaphase I. Histological examination in the testis of sterile ICR mouse shawed an apparent block in the spermatogenesis associated with a thickening of the basal lamina and its boundary tissue and a appearance of few cells (spermatogonia and spermatocytes) in the seminiferous tubules.
